Petra
The city of Petra is a "must" visit when you come to Jordan - it is unique! About 2 hours away from Aqaba. The famous colored sand bottles you see in Jordan are all made from the various colored sands you find in Petra. It takes more than one visit to see everything here, in fact you can explore for many days. There is also an animal sanctuary there for donkeys, horses and camels. more pics & info...

If you are traveling to Aqaba via Amman it well worth spending a day or two exploring the city, the is a lot of culture here and some excellent night spots. The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth and is also the saltiest body of water on the planet. Salts are washed down into the sea from the surrounding mountains, extracted and used for many purposes. You can visit the Dead Sea area and go for a "float" and visit the hot fresh water springs at Wadi Mujib. There is a health spa at the Dead Sea Movenpick hotel and many beauty treatments are possible.

The old Roman town of Jerash sits overlooking the modern town of Jerash - the contrast is startling. Spend a full day here to thoroughly appreciate the place and visit all areas. Traveling north from Amman it is a 1 hour drive. It has a Mediterranean type climate. The best time to visit is in the spring.
