131 meter dive - New Record in Aqaba, Jordan
Rod Abbotson and Dorit Yoseph completed a dive to 131m in Aqaba, Jordan on Sunday 8th June 2008. This was the deepest scuba dive ever conducted in the waters off Aqaba, Jordan. Izz and Chris Dive Aqaba team members were support divers on the project ferrying tanks required for all the extra decompression required. While Ronny, Dorits husband provided essential surface support. Warm up dives to check all equipment and build up END's were undertaken on the 6tbh and 7th of June to 60m and 75m respectively. V planner version 3.84 was used for planning the dive on vpm/b set at plus 3 conservatism. Bottom gas used was Tmx11/45, travel gas used Tmx21/27 with deco gases of EANx40 and EANx80. On the final long stop the divers nourished themselves with chocolate bars and rehyrdrated themselves drinking fruit juice. The total time of the dive was 111 minutes. This also makes Dorit a record holder in Israel for both men and women as the previous record was 127m!
