Philip Barawitzka can now stake two more firsts on diving in Aqaba. On the 29th September 2008 he was the first diver to visit the new wreck of the
Shorouk on a
Pelagian rebreather. This was also the first dive in Aqaba on a closed circuit rebreather using trimix as a dilutant. As a set point of 1.2 ppo2 was used for the dive with a heliair mix of Tmx16/24 used to reduce narcosis. An off board 9 litre tank of trimix was connected into the unit carried on the left side of the diver and a 9 liter tank of EANx50 deco bail out on the right. V planner was used to plan the dive and Shearwater Pursuit to monitor the dive.
