Rod Abbotson and
Dorit Yoseph completed a dive to 144m in Aqaba, Jordan on Saturday 10th October 2009. This was the deepest scuba dive ever conducted in the waters off Aqaba, Jordan since the same two divers completed a
131m dive at the same place,
Dorit's Deep, in June 2008. This time Paul, Chris, Alaa, Omar Dive Aqaba team members were in water support divers on the project ferrying tanks required for all the extra decompression required. While Ronny, Dorits husband and the rest of the team provided essential surface support. Warm up dives to check all equipment and build up END's were undertaken on the 8th and 9th of October to 77m and 64m respectively where emergency drills were practised at depth. V planner version 3.86 was used for planning the dive on vpm/b set at plus 3 conservatism. Bottom gas used was Tmx9/55, travel gas used Tmx16/24 with deco gases of EANx32 and EANx80. The total time of the dive was 121 minutes. This also makes Dorit a record holder in Israel for both men and women. We pass the ball to the Israeli technical dive community. Rod used a
Pelagian DCCCR for the dive thus completing the deepest rebreather dive in Jordan while Dorit was on Open Circuit. Thanks must also go the Mark Ellyatt for his
Inspired Training which made the dive possible.
