Technical diving in Aqaba

Deep walls, deep wrecks and trimix, taught and guided by a team that has been diving beyond 100 m since 2007.

What is technical diving?

Technical diving describes all diving methods that exceed the limits for recreational scuba diving, in depth, in time under water, or both. It often uses special gas mixtures instead of air. The mixture is chosen for the planned depth or the length of the dive. Recreational diving is limited to about 40 m, while technical divers work in the range of 40 m to 100 m, and sometimes deeper.

The Dive Aqaba tec team

Our tec team carries extra technical specialty courses approved by PADI and introduces you to a wealth of unexplored dive sites in Aqaba. We are recognised by Project AWARE for looking after the deeper environment with clean-up tec dives and surveys, removing old nets and fishing line from deep reefs, and we advise on deep issues within the Aqaba Marine Park.

Our team discovered the wreck of the Taiyong in 2004 and has spent years surveying it, and we dive the Al Shorouk, scuttled in 2008. We blend trimix on site with high-grade helium, and our air is clean and tested. Read more about our deepest dives in the 100 m+ club.

The Dive Aqaba challenge

The Tsereve Challenge: Everest in reverse

100+ metres is the Mount Everest of scuba diving. Far fewer people have dived that deep than have stood on top of Everest. Our six-day programme takes you from 65 m to 100+ m, a little deeper every day.

Final programme: five days of technical diving, helium, boat and logistics, an achievement certificate and a Tsereve t-shirt.
