Diver over a coral reef in Aqaba

About this dive site

A fantastic spot sheltered from the wind. The site is named after King Abdullah II. A fan coral that used to sit on top of the reef has died and is now covered in sponges of every colour.

You get large shoals of pennantfish, and torpedo and blue-spotted rays are often seen. The best dive is to the south, where the reef slope is covered in different corals. Turn north when your air supply is dwindling and come back through the shallows, where huge shoals of fusiliers gather around the pinnacles next to the fringing reef. When you reach the grassy area you are back near the mooring. Watch out for turtles.

Best for: All levels
